Facts about Trekking in Nepal




In countries such as Nepal, there is an identifiable customs and culture that is closely associated its geographical location of its people, most of the trekkers visit Nepal to see the rarity of their nature, to witness one of the best places on earth, and to observe the country's unique customs with the help of Godiyals.


While the Mount Annapuma and Mount Everest or also known as Khumbu Langtang are situated along the Himalayan range, the country has a lot to offer for adventure enthusiasts. Rich with mountains and hills, trekkers have variety of options while they trek within the country. The popular trekking destinations in Nepal are Lo Manthag in the Upper Mustang, Mansalu Circuit, Mera Peak Climbing, and Island Peak Trek.


Available only from Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN) and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the permit for trekking, also referred to as the TIMS or Trekking Information Management System, is required for any trekkers would want to trek in Nepal. Also, trekking is not allowed in areas like Huma, Makalu Barun, Dolpo, and Mustang unless you have a special type of permit that can only be obtained from certain trekking organizations.


Trekkers should be equipped with the required trekking equipment and gears that would be essential in their journey. Also, various trekkers' bags could be found in the Thamel's trekking hub.


Trekkers could select from either having a Camping (Organized Trek) or a Lodge Trek (Tea House) as their option for their trekking journey. The Camping is a very affordable choice of trekking wherein all trekkers do not need to be worried about their food and lodging because they would be provided by the Tea Houses nearby; moreover, the Lodge Trek is an elegant and classical way of trekking adventure in Nepal. It is a highly organized package with shrepas, guides, porters, and cooks who would help the trekkers to enjoy for the rest of their adventure. From cooking and to carrying of all the traveling materials, from organizing mattresses, sleeping bags and tables, setting up the tents during the night, the group is well-trained and professional.


Trekkers should take note of the time if they want to trek in Nepal. The appropriate time for trekking is between March to June and September to November because the weather in these months is just clear and fine. If you want to trek in an off-season, you would not avoid the rain and the leeches, but if you like to be one of the natures, then this is best for you. Trekkers also need some time to acclimate because of the low pressure and high altitude. Every time they trek, they have to rest for at least two days in order to adapt in the dynamic environment.
